On August 18th<\/sup> 2022 Hallbars International Sustainability Research Institute announced<\/a> the \u201cBest in the World\u201d sustainability reports 2022 Awards<\/em><\/strong> recognizing Ron Barcel\u00f3 RB 360 <\/em><\/strong>sustainability code first place<\/em><\/strong> in the Spirits category<\/em><\/strong>, ahead of Bacardi and Anora, respectively.<\/p>\n

Hallbars recognizes<\/em><\/strong> companies that provide the world with sustainability reports<\/strong> by granting them Best in the Word<\/strong> status.<\/p>\n

These reports<\/strong><\/em> are evaluated for their content, clear writing, easy readership, and quality production.<\/p>\n

This recognition<\/em><\/strong> is granted to companies<\/strong><\/em> that have demonstrated the highest levels of sustainability<\/em><\/strong> reporting.<\/p>\n

Ron Barcel\u00f3 <\/strong>RB360 Sustainability code<\/h3>\n

RB360 Sustainability code is a set of policies based on four indicators: Field indicator, Water indicator, Air indicator, and Territory indicator. <\/b><\/em>Click\u00a0here<\/a> to know more about RB360.<\/p>\n

We have minimized our dependence on fossil fuels through these indicators, ensuring that\u00a0100%<\/b><\/em>\u00a0of the\u00a0process steam<\/b><\/em>\u00a0and nearly\u00a090%<\/b><\/em>\u00a0of the\u00a0electricity<\/b><\/em>\u00a0consumed comes from\u00a0renewable sources<\/b><\/em>. In the same way, the\u00a0CO2<\/b><\/em>\u00a0produced during fermentation is\u00a0captured<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0reused<\/b><\/em>, transforming\u00a0it into food-grade CO2<\/b><\/em>, used to make soft drinks and other carbonated beverages. <\/span>Thanks to our code in 2016 we have proudly obtained the\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Bilan Carbon<\/b><\/em>\u00a0certification<\/a> and are recognized as the\u00a0world\u2019s first<\/b>\u00a0<\/em>Carbon Neutral rum.<\/span><\/p>\n

Latin America leader for sustainability<\/h3>\n

More than 1500 entries<\/strong><\/em> were submitted from 94 countries<\/strong><\/em>. Only 294 people<\/strong><\/em> from 51 countries<\/strong><\/em> were chosen for the Best in the World<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n

With 42 sustainability reports<\/strong><\/em>, 4 of which come from the Dominican Republic, Latin America<\/strong><\/em> has become a leader<\/strong> for sustainability<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n

The quantity and quality<\/strong><\/em> of the reports<\/strong><\/em> coming from Latin America have increased significantly<\/strong><\/em>, according to Guillermo Gonzales, Hallbars ‘ Ambassador for LATAM (LATAM). This is thanks<\/strong><\/em> to the great effort<\/strong><\/em> made in the region to achieve United Nations Sustainable Goals<\/strong><\/em> (SDGs).<\/p>\n

Each of the businesses being reviewed must meet specific criteria in order to be considered as a finalist for this important award. Specifically, sustainability reporting should be integrated into the company culture, strategy, and operational procedures.<\/p>\n

What is Sustainability Reporting?<\/h3>\n

The purpose<\/strong><\/em> of sustainability reporting is to measure and report<\/strong><\/em> a company’s environmental impact<\/strong><\/em>. Through the use of standardized and comprehensive best practices<\/strong><\/em>, sustainability reporting<\/strong><\/em> ensures that a company’s goals and achievements are clearly communicated to stakeholders<\/strong><\/em>. A company must first understand the impact<\/strong><\/em> that its actions have on the environment<\/strong><\/em> in order to become a sustainable organization. A company must measure and report<\/strong> <\/em>both its positive and negative impacts in order to create a better future.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Sustainability Reporting is not a one-time activity<\/strong><\/em> that can be completed. It should be an ongoing and permanent process<\/strong> <\/em>that should be incorporated across all of the company’s functions<\/strong><\/em>. In addition to reducing negative impacts such as carbon emissions and waste production, the company should also focus on the positive aspects such as renewable energy and water conservation.<\/p>\n
