The Historical Centre

We warmly welcome you to the Ron Barceló Historical Centre, where you can learn about the history of Dominican Rum, live the experience of breathing, observing and feeling the true essence of Ron Barceló and appreciating the quality of our rums.

Here is where the authentic Dominican Rum is aged.

Located in the facilities of Ron Barceló S.R.L. and officially identified as Licorería#50, the layout of the Historical Centre – the first of its kind in the country – is inspired by the shape of a barrique.
The Ron Barceló Historical Centre was conceived to offer an immersive experience in which we invite visitors to set out on a journey along which they can discover and immerse themselves in the modern processes that take place here daily to create excellent rum, namely: ageing, processing and packaging.
Visitors will thus have the opportunity to appreciate the rudimentary equipment used for the ancient production processes of alcohol, and subsequently of rum.

Ageing

Our spirits acquire their characteristic colour, fragrance and taste after a minimum of 1 year of natural ageing in toasted barriques from different latitudes. This occurs through a transfer of oxygen, tannins and other properties of the wood that are made possible thanks to unique conditions. This is why the local climate, combined with the Caribbean temperature and humidity of our cellars, guarantee the production of top-quality rum.

Blending

All our rums are made through a careful selection process, which begins with the identification of the batches of barriques that have completed the pre-established maturation process for their formulation. Once this process is completed, the barriques are emptied and blended in stainless steel tanks, under the supervision of our “Master Blender” and our “Expertos Roneros” (Rum Masters) who jealously monitor the entire process.

Packaging

Our packaging lines are made of stainless steel and are equipped with their own individual safety devices to ensure the correct filling, capping and labelling of the bottles, elements that are carefully validated for their use following a quality control analysis.

San Pedro de Macorís

The Barceló Historical Centre is located in San Pedro de Macorís, in the province of the same name south-east of the Dominican Republic.
The quality of our rum can only be understood by taking into account the place where it is produced: the Caribbean temperature and humidity conditions found in our cellars create the perfect environment for the production of the best rum. The sugarcane cultivation in the Caribbean also gives us the opportunity to carefully select the best canes so as to ensure a unique and top-quality product.

Tours & bookings

We offer our visitors the opportunity to enjoy a tour with a visit to our ageing cellar, where they will immerse themselves in the rich aroma of our most aged reserves, as well as discovering the location of our barriques.
The tour will continue with a journey through the production and packaging processes that are carried out daily in our factory.
And finally, to end the experience with a flourish, they will be led to the discovery of our Barceló Historical Centre, where they can immerse themselves in a totally eclectic environment, ancient and modern at the same time, with pieces and objects that will arouse their curiosity and envelop them in an atmosphere of discovery. Moreover, they will have the opportunity to purchase our products and a wide range of promotional items, so that they can keep a delightful memory of the experience.
